The attempt of a late-20s belly dancer wannabe to sort through her seemingly never-ending quarter-life crisis with generous soul-searching, a bit of wisdom and a pinch of humor.
What stands out to me the most when I read your posts is that your form is almost perfect. You have an excellent command of the English language. It is evident from your writing that you have read extensively. You should seriously consider a career in writing. Take your previous post, for example, Coming to America. If you were to develop the content in that post alone, and expand it out, you have the makings of a pretty good book. It would be timely, relavent to current events, and interesting to read. It's something you should really consider. You definitely have the knack.
Jagular -- Thank you for your inspiring comments. I really hope that one day I can put these suggestions into practice!
Surge84 -- I disagree. You are a good writer. Through your writing, one can tell who you are as a person and can connect to your experiences.
I think that being a great writer doesn't necessarily make you a good blogger. If your readers can't connect to you through your writing, then you might as well be writing to the trees. It is so important that your personality emerge from your words because your readers otherwise have no idea of knowing what kind of person you really are!
I think you're doing just that, Surge84, and you should be proud of yourself for that!
Hmmm...I think I routinely break the majority of those rules. But I've always been a little bit of a rule-breaker when I thought I could get away with it. :)
Cinthia , this is great info..Thankyou for sharing.
I'm also very critical about my blog writing...Deleted many, and missed numerous typos..Sometimes I wish people would let me know so I don't feel like a fool.. Ugh.
This is a perfectly written post about perfectly writing posts! Well done! Two typos though... ;)
I think the design of a blog is extremely important too. When I'm blog surfing, I don't even stop to look at poorly designed sites. They have to catch my eye without distracting me from reading. A difficult thing to balance...
Those are some good ideas, I will keep them in mind. Got a question for you, there is a post I made with a video for the song Paradise (not for me), there is a certain part in the song where she speaks lines in french. Since you speak it, could you translate it for me? That would be so awesome, Ive always wondered what she was saying there, lol! Thnx Cin!
I wish I could write well. I tend to be better at writing research papers and such versus more free and thoughtfull things. I do enjoy your posts though and hope you continue to write! :)
Erikku -- Comments, good question. I like comments that are heartfelt, witty, interesting or useful, which luckily for me, you guys leave me all the time! :) Thank you!
Viking -- Two typos?! I knew I couldn't get away without using the spell checker. Ok, I saw I made a typo on 'restlessly,' but where's the second culprit? I won't rest until I find it! :)
Marko -- You're giving me homework, aren't you? No problem, I'll do it. I'm heading to bed now, but I should be able to do it sometime tomorrow evening.
Josey -- I love your blog the way it is! Ha ha ha ha Stay funny!
and while I found your tips very informative and helpful, I find that I like to write my blog without any rules or guidelines! No real purpose or goal... just whatever I feel like sharing at the time... but you know, that's me! I've always chose to ignore the rules
Lucky Lum -- Most people probably prefer spontaneity, too! I happen to be the kind of person that can't survive without guidelines. I just thought I'd share what guidelines I followed for blogging with other people :)
Hee! That's why I posted pictures of not one but two adorable pets on my blog today. Seriously though, as adorable as they are, wasn't just pimping them. But yeah, just like Hollywood pets and kids rule the roost.
Good ideas for blogging, but far too many rules for me to remember! Plus with the way the thoughts swirl in my head, it's usually a little hard to stick to one topic.
:D This stuff is solid gold ;) Thanks for all the tips, although I could figure out by myself (I study journalism, so I'm supposed to understand good writing) and I don't pay attention to these things for my personal journal anyway. Partly because I'm lazy, partly because if I alter too much, if I want to make each post complete Beauty, it wouldn't be who I am anymore. I ám a boy who writes chaotic, basic, simple, complete with grammar mistakes and spelling errors. But maybe it's different for an online journal than a blog. I'd like to keep both, but it just doesn't work. I put most of my energy in my blurty journal (www.blurty.com/users/benvolio), which leaves little room for a solid blog. But I love the tips, and I know they will come in handy one time or another. And they seem to work, too, you have a great blog! xxx Mathieu
Great stuff. Having ADD I litterally cannot read long posts...sometimes I think it's better to break them into parts and post them at different times. I'm big on short posts or broken up in a way it's easy to read, adding pictures when I feel it works with the post and trying to respond to comments or even visiting a blog that's commented :D

Thank you for all your kind words Cinthia!
I have one more tip to add: Try not to blog while drunk. :)
I'm also very critical about my blog writing...Deleted many, and missed numerous typos..Sometimes I wish people would let me know so I don't feel like a fool.. Ugh.
thanks for the tips on blogging.
Yeah, I try to edit, edit, edit so that my posts are as short and sweet as possible. It's often very hard to do!
I think the design of a blog is extremely important too. When I'm blog surfing, I don't even stop to look at poorly designed sites. They have to catch my eye without distracting me from reading. A difficult thing to balance...
Now I'm off to re-design my site :)

I've always chose to ignore the rules
(see, like not putting periods at the end)
Just kidding. ;)
Looking forward to hearing about Baloo!
cheers
Sid
Take care, Meow
I do find, however, that some of my best blog posts are of what the "whatever comes to mind variety".
Now if I could only belly dance......
